“Smoking at Home number 1” 2004, cigarettes, cigarette smoke, steel, wood, smoke detector, laser, DVD player, paint, motors and misc. electronics - 26”x18”x15”
The sculpture consists of a little log cabin with a pack of cigarettes on the porch. The sculpture is displayed a little lower than head height. If a cigarette is lit and the smoke is blown inside the cabin door, a karaoke track of several people with Japanese accents singing Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire comes on. A small laser ligth shows also begins. If the smoke dissipates, everything stops and the cabin returns to darkness and quiet, which is its normal state.”
